Common questions
- Can draught-proofing cause damp? If you seal ventilation, yes. Keep vents and extractors open and clear, and allow for ventilation in kitchens and bathrooms.
- Is a cheap flat-rate gutter clean a good sign? A very low price may indicate a quick scoop with no flush or downpipe check. Ask what is included and compare like with like.
- Can I replace a panel on my own? In many cases yes, especially drop-in panels. Panels are bulky and heavier than they look, so having a second person helps.
- How long should bathroom sealant last? Typically several years, depending on the quality of the product, the preparation and how much moisture the room sees. Poor ventilation shortens it.
- Is a half-day rate worth it? Often yes, if you have four to six small jobs. A half day usually comes in at a bit more than half a full day, but you avoid paying for time you cannot fill.
- Can a handyman change a fixed price halfway through? They should not unless the scope genuinely changes, such as hidden damage. If it does, a good handyman stops and agrees the new price with you before continuing.
