Common questions

  • Should I buy the bracket myself or let the installer supply it? Either is fine. Supplying it yourself lets you pick exactly what you want, while an installer may carry a bracket they trust. Whoever supplies it, check the weight rating and hole pattern match your screen.
  • Is the cheapest quote usually the best? Not necessarily. A low price may exclude materials or checks. Compare scope and details first, then price.
  • How much weight can a coat hook take? It depends on the hook and the wall. Quality hooks fixed into masonry or studs handle several kilos, whereas cheap ones in hollow plasterboard may only manage light coats.
  • Do I need a hammer drill for brick? For a few holes in softer brick, a standard drill with hammer mode can cope. For concrete or many holes, an SDS or hammer drill saves time and effort.
  • Can I drill porcelain tiles with a normal drill? Yes, with the right diamond or porcelain bit and slow speed. A standard masonry or tile bit may struggle and overheat.
  • Do all door handles fit all doors? No. Backset, spindle length and fixing centres need to match, and different latch types need different handles.
